Since stepping foot on stage fully naked as poet William Blake in Jack Shepherd's play, Blake V Paine at the Southwark Playhouse last year, Tom Mothersdale's theatre credits have gone from strength to strength.

The British actor, who graduated from Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance in 2009, has only recently started catching the industry's attention, appearing in several productions including The Cherry Orchard directed by Katie Mitchell at the Young Vic in London and King Lear at the Chichester Festival Theatre in 2014. But now Tom, who's also appeared in TV drama The Missing and the second series of Peaky Blinders, is set for his biggest theatre challenge yet, having been cast in play 4.48 Psychosis written by Sarah Kane, who is said to be one of the most controversial playwrights of the 20th Century. The production, which runs in March at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, explores depression and shows the true implications of such a condition from the inside out. With more accomplished and challenging roles lined up, this rising star could soon to be heading to the West End.
